DIMPLES: A WEBLOG

Read the "Dark Minds" piece on this page. Very cool.

Stupid teenage "Lolita" clique
OK, this is just DISTURBING. Has this girl even read Lolita? I doubt it. If she had, she surely would not have created this. It's MORONIC, I tell you. What's with the picture? If this really had to do with Lolita, a preteen girl in Mary Janes would be more appropriate. If that book was read as often as it is idiotically alluded to, we would all be better off. I hate to see great works of literature so horribly abused.

Mysteries.com
Lots of cool stuff here for the Poirot (or any other mystery run on A&E) fan. Ahhh, new Poirot episodes. My prayers have been answered. If you go there be sure to check out the fabulous interview with David Suchet.

(Sam)antha
She's as fanciful as all get out, although her site isn't on that domain. She's clever, she's sweet, and she has a scrumptious new layout up. What more could one ask for?

Hummel
My Dad got Hummel confused with the American Drugstore brand "Precious Moments" the other day, and I was like "No, I don't know you." You must understand, I come from a family involved in antiques and collectibles.

Glass Dog
Always entertaining.

news news news
OK, I thought that by the time I got over here (my Dad's house, a.k.a my other house) I would be able to do some serious updating. Turns out I'm having the worst computer luck ever and there's a problem with the one I use for graphics. All I can say is bear with me.

plasticglow.net/inject
I am LOVING this. Very innovative graphics. Definitely a style I can get into. This'll be my last entry for a few days as I'm leaving town. Expect some new features here at Dimples when I get back. Oh, and Melanie, if you're reading this thanks again for helping me with the A&E list.

Fanciful History
Check out Vanessa's in-depth history of fanciful.net. Very entertaining. I love the "Dad, can I get a domain?" dialogue.

Wish List
Like a good consumer, I've completely succumbed to the online wish list trend. I made one at the A&E store, too, but I can't figure out how to link to it. Anyone know? I really made these for my Grandmother's benefit, but they're a little too much for her to handle ;P

broken.shesays.net
Jen and I used to be hosted together at now defunct hazy.org, and she is as sweet as spun sugar, but with a design style closer to the psychedelic era.

KVAD
Completely gorgeous.

That wacky Yahoo...
This site shows up if you search for "voting dimples!" That is too funny. Well, at least somebody's profiting from this election madness.

moontale.net
Soft. Understated. Lovely. It's what I jokingly call the "softcore porn look." I am not intending that as an insult or a comparison to pornography, it's just a term I use. When it comes to design I like polar opposites. There's the black background with bold colors that I usually use on my site, then there are designs like that of Moontale which I also love. They are light, airy, and always classy. There is a lot more to see on this site besides the design, though. Derya has a lot of writing including some well above average book reviews which I enjoyed reading.

Air Sickness Bags Virtual Museum
This is hysterical!

The Christmas Revels
I'm ushering for the Oakland show this afternoon. Why not stop by?

Bob Dylan
Considering how much I visit this site, I'm surprised it's not already on one of my drop downs. Anyway, it's an excellent site and you can search for any song and get the lyrics and sound clips. If you do, check out "Visions of Johanna." That's my favorite Bob Dylan song and one I always sing to my little sister (who's name is Johanna).

Elysian Fields
Yay! Sammy's site is back up and she has a lovely new layout to boot, with a gorgeous green color scheme :P Samantha has a beautiful poetry style. Be sure to read "The Photograph" while you're there.

someone congratulate me
I finally finished my horrid Neorealism/Cuban film paper (see below). If only the final product reflected the hours I sat wasting time on the computer. Now it's on to my other homework. Here we go again...

Paint Shop Pro
I was playing around in PSP and just realized how to do something that I've been trying to figure out for at least a year. It's amazing what you can get accomplished when you try to avoid your homework.

Emily's Community Idea
Emily of puck.shesays.net has a great idea for an internet community, but she needs some eager individuals. Interested? Read her mission statement and see if you'd like to participate.

Italian Neorealism
Italian Neorealism (and its effect on Cuban cinema) is pretty much encompassing my world right now, thanks to an extremely tedious paper I have to write. Am I working on the paper? No, I'm updating my website. That makes perfect sense if you're a chronic procrastinator like I am. Whereas I could go weeks without updating my site, the second that I should be doing something else, I suddenly have the urge. Ah, me.

Dreamcatcher
Lisa's layouts are always luminous, linear and lovely. Hehe, couldn't resist that alliteration ;p Seriously though, if you haven't already been to Dreamcatcher, I suggest that you check it out.

this disgusts me
I hate this ad campaign with a passion. It is reprehensible to use images of dead heroes to sell computers. These people have not given permission for their likeness to endorse Apple. Their heirs have a right to sue, and I'm surprised none of them have. Besides that, "Think different?" What kind-of a dumb-ass phrase is that? Apple makes me SICK.

Tarnish.net
This site is always so immaculate in every way, and I appreciate that. I really liked her webdesign tips. I was not, however, impressed by the film reviews. What's the point of having tons of them if they're all just a few sentences? I would much rather read one or two well-written and insightful reviews than 300 bad ones. I take reviewing things very seriously, and I'm sick of seeing these horrid little synopses. I don't mean this as an attack on tarnish.net, but in general I find these an insult to the viewer's intelligence.
